Kairos Arts classes and workshops are designed to invite you to explore a new craft in a supportive and encouraging environment. Whether you are a complete novice or have experience with other visual art mediums, you will find our courses to be accessible and enjoyable, giving you space to experiment and learn under the guidance of professional artists. You gain valuable skills, and you will become part of a vibrant and supportive community where you can connect and learn together.

Fall 2026 Landscape Oil Painting Class

About the Instructor:

The son of a well-known Charleston portrait painter, Charles was born in New Orleans, LA and grew up in Mount Pleasant where he attended St. Andrew's Church as a child. His work hangs in private collections as far as California and Italy, as well as public collections such as St. Philip's Church, the Old Exchange Building, and the Charleston County Courthouse in downtown Charleston. His work was recently the featured in The Kairos Gallery in an exhibit titled “Growing Things Change.” His recent Forum keynote talks can be viewed on our Media page. His students, which vary from complete novices to seasoned artists, have praised his supportive style as well as the accessibility of his teaching.

Summer 2026 Watercolor Painting Class

About the Instructor:

Amelia “Mimi” Whaley is a watercolor artist based in Charleston, SC, whose work captures the natural beauty of the Lowcountry. A native of Edisto Island, she has been painting professionally since 1985, working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, and encaustic. Beyond her studio practice, Amelia has been deeply involved in integrating the arts into worship ministry at St. Andrew’s Church, helping to create meaningful connections between faith and artistic expression.
