Outside his tent, Abraham laments not having a child, but God comes to him in a vision and shows him the heavens, promising him as many sons and daughters as there are stars.
Through Abraham’s children, God will bless and bind himself to humanity.
“And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he believed the Lord; and he reckoned it to him as righteousness.”
(Genesis 15:6-7)
